Youmay still purchase certificates when registering an event at the Council. However certificates for previous registrations can only be ordered from theGeneral Register Office. Since launching on 1April 2015, thewebsite has had 98,400 unique users, 47,000 of whomaccess thewebsite onmobile devices and the remainder on laptops or PCs. There have been 675,000 page views, ranging from finding out about the facilities and services of the Council, keeping up to datewith news and events or simply getting in touch. Themost frequently viewed pages on the Council website are Council Meetings, Find your Councillor, Careers, Tenders, News and Events and Planning. SocialMedia We set up our Facebook page inApril last year and are delighted to have 2, 632 followers, andwe also have 920 followers on Twitter. We use both Facebook and Twitter to keep you up to date onCouncil news, events, funding opportunities, and to respond to queries, issues andmessages.Wemonitor our social media several times a day, Monday – Friday, and post regularly to keep in touch. RevivingGortinGlen Forest Park An impressive carved wooden sculpture is a new focal point in the main visitor area of the Gortin Glen Forest Park. Inspired by its natural surroundings, the sculpture stands four metres tall and is composed of Larch, RedCedar andOakwith the centrepiece, a family of RedDeer, chosen specifically to reflect the importance of the Forest Park’s relationshipwith the fauna which roamed the area in the past. The centrepiece is surrounded by a boardwalk and bridge, with smaller woodland animals and birds. The sculpture invites interactionwith naturewithin the Forest Park through exploration and play. The sculpturewas installed in a partnership between the Council, Forest Service Northern Ireland andOutdoor Recreation NI. The Council has a vision to revive theGortin Glen Forest Park as a significant outdoor activity centre, with an extensive network of adventure play, walking andmountain biking trails and the redevelopment of the main visitor area, andwill workwith Forest ServiceNorthern Ireland and other partners to secure their support and funding and to bring this to fruition. InNovember 2015, theMarble ArchCaves Global Geoparkwas awardedUNESCO Global Geopark status for its internationally important geological heritage and sustainable tourismstrategywhich benefits the local and regional economy. Guided cave tours take visitors on amesmerising underworld journey of rivers, waterfalls, winding passages and lofty chambers.
