10 | Inform Summer 2017 Shaping the future of the district The first Community Plan for the district ‘Fermanagh and Omagh 2030’ was launched at the end of March 2017. The Fermanagh and Omagh Community Plan is an overarching plan that has been developed by the Community Planning partners to improve the social, economic and environmental wellbeing of the Fermanagh and Omagh area. The Community Plan will be supported by three Action Plans which we aim to have ready by late summer. These Action Plans, which were informed through public consultation, will focus on achieving eight outcomes which set out what we hope to achieve under three key themes and ultimately, the Vision as set out in the Community Plan. Working in partnership A range of partners from the public, private, community and voluntary sectors have committed to delivering the Community Plan through a partnership approach. The overall Community Planning process is led by the Council while the three themes are led by other partners with Council support as follows: • People and Communities – Public Health Agency and the Western Health and Social Care Trust • Economy, Infrastructure and Skills – Invest NI • Environment – Sport NI We will continue to keep you updated on progress over the coming months through the Council’s website, Facebook and Twitter platforms. If you would like to speak to a member of the Community Planning team please use the contact details listed on page 2. The Community Plan ‘Fermanagh and Omagh 2030’ is available to view at www.fermanaghomagh.com/ communityplanning . Community Plan to improve social, economic & environmental wellbeing Preparation of the new Local Development Plan (LDP) is a significant project which, when complete, will set out the strategy for the future use of land and sustainable development in the district until 2030. It is based on a shared vision of the ‘Fermanagh and Omagh 2030’ Community Plan, which is outlined above. Last autumn, the Council consulted on the LDP Preferred Options Paper for an 8-week period. This Preferred Options Paper set out the key planning issues for the district, identified a range of options to address them and indicated the preferred options of the Council. The Council received nearly 900 responses from the consultation process. These have been summarised into a report which is available to view on the Council’s website. Following consideration of the issues raised in the consultation responses, the next stage in the process will involve the development of the draft Plan Strategy which is expected to be published for consultation later in the year.
