16 | Inform Summer 2017 A full programme of shows, performances and workshops takes place at the Strule Arts Centre, Omagh and The Ardhowen, Enniskillen over the summer. The state-of-the-art Visitor Centre and the recently refurbished Fermanagh County Museum at Enniskillen Castle are open seven days a week, June to September. The Marble Arch Caves, part of the Marble Arch Caves UNESCO Global Geopark, are also open seven days a week during the summer season. A programme of classes and activities continues throughout the summer at the Council’s four leisure centres: the Bawnacre Centre, Irvinestown, the Castle Park Leisure Centre, Lisnaskea, the Fermanagh Lakeland Forum, Enniskillen and Omagh Leisure Complex. Enniskillen 10k Road Race & Leisure Walk The Enniskillen 10k Road Race and Leisure Walk - one of the largest active participation events in the district - takes place on Saturday 10 June 2017 at 2 pm. Register online at www.enniskillen10k.com before the deadline of midnight, Tuesday 6 June. Closing date for paper entries is Monday 5 June at 5 pm. Late entries will be available on the day of the race, however, it is strongly recommended to register in advance to avoid disappointment. Things to do at our venues this summer Summer schemes for children and young people A programme of summer schemes for children and young people will take place across the district this summer. The Council’s summer scheme programme will include a range of activities at community centres, leisure centres, Multi-Use Games Areas (MUGAs) and the Strule Arts Centre. We are currently finalising plans for this year’s summer scheme programme. Please keep an eye on the Council website and local press for further details. Omagh “Jive Live” “Grange Fest” A visit to Cole’s Monument Free family friendly, open air jiving festival on Saturday 5 August 2017 at the OASIS Plaza, Omagh. Includes live music, jiving workshops, food, entertainment and competitions with £1,000 worth of prizes. Summer fun in the Grange Park, Omagh. Join us for an afternoon of free family entertainment & activities from 1 pm to 4 pm on Saturday 24 June 2017. We look forward to seeing you there! Cole’s Monument stands in the grounds of the Forthill Park; a beautiful five & a half acre wooded park in Enniskillen. The monument was built in the centre of the park in memory of the late General the Hon. Sir G. Lowry Cole from 1845-57. It is open to the public from 1 pm to 3 pm on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays in May, June and September and Saturdays, Sundays, Mondays and Bank Holidays in July and August, with a guide available to escort visitors up and down the original 108 step staircase. The staircase leads to a viewing platform which offers magnificent views of Enniskillen and the surrounding area. Please note, maximum group size of 8 people per visit. Admission free.
