07 Your bin collection day may be changing Transforming our waste Please note: bin collections will operate as normal across the district on Bank Holiday Monday 29 May 2017. Keep up to date Keep up to date with recycling and bin collection information through the Bin- ovation app. Download for free from the App store or Google Play. For iPad users, select iPhone only when searching. Bin collection routes have been reviewed across the district as part of our ongoing commitment to provide you with a more efficient and cost- effective household waste collection service. As part of this review, a significant number of households in the Fermanagh and Omagh district will see a change in their collection day. You will receive information directly to your household over the next few weeks informing you what your collection day will be. We are compiling this information for our website, so that you will be able to search for your bin collection day using an online search facility when the new service starts. If you do not have access to the internet, you will also be able to call us on 0300 303 1777 and we will be able to advise you what your collection day will be. Please ensure that you put your bin out no later than 7 am on the day of collection to ensure that your bin is emptied. The Council actively looks at ways to reduce waste sent to landfill and to increase recycling in the district. Recyclable items and food waste should never be placed in your black or green household waste bin which is for non-recyclable items only. Increase your recycling rate by: • Always placing the following items in your blue household recycling bin: • Paper • Cardboard • Tins and cans • Aerosols • Plastic bottles, tubs, trays and cartons • Using the 15 recycling centres across the district where you can bring additional items such as grass cuttings, mattresses and electrical items. Seven of these centres have an area for furniture and paint reuse • Bring your empty glass bottles and jars to a recycling centre or to one of the 35 Bottle Banks located across the district • Recycling the ‘unusual suspects’ within your home. These include items such as aerosol cans, cleaning product bottles, toilet roll tubes, cardboard toothpaste boxes, tissue boxes, plastic shampoo, shower gel and moisturiser bottles, washing up liquid bottles, soap dispensers, bleach bottles and spray cleaners. Just remember, it’s best to remove the trigger spray and pump dispenser tops, as these aren’t currently recycled. Increasing your recycling rate
