Play_Park_Strategy_2021-2030

Fermanagh and Omagh District Council has prepared this Play Park Strategy to guide the provision, sustainable management and development of play parks across our district. Play parks play an important role in children’s development through the provision of experiences that may not otherwise be available in their everyday life. Obvious benefits include a range of physical development such as improved coordination, strength, balance and spatial awareness. Indirect benefits cover a wide range of social, cognitive and creative qualities that are very important to the development of the ‘whole’ person. Several challenges face the Council to ensure that the provision of play parks is adequate and appropriate for both our urban and rural communities along with visitors, both now and in the future. Play parks need to be safe, accessible, inclusive, exciting and fun with additional elements such as the incorporation and integration of ‘Green Space’ within our play parks. 4 Executive Summary
