The Council will establish and design all new play parks and the refurbishment of existing play parks to a minimum standard in line with the current National Standards. It will seek to incorporate the key design considerations in this Strategy such as use of sustainable materials and utilising ‘Green Space’ relevant to the type and location of the play park being developed. All materials and products selected to be based on sustainability and to minimise maintenance and damage as a result of vandalism. The provision of drinking fountains is to be considered to provide hydration points and encourage less consumption of sugar rich drinks. All play parks will be designed in consideration at the outset for accessibility and inclusivity requirements. As a minimum, one piece of accessible and inclusive equipment shall be provided in every play park.
