The Play Plan delivery team will establish a clear rationale for the identification of the location of all new play parks and play parks for upgrade and transformation. The team will use information developed and identified in this strategy such as the ‘Ward 14’ and ‘Small Area’ analysis along with best practice guidance to establish optimal locations for play parks. In addition, the delivery team will establish the provision of equipment and upgrade work based on the rationale of ‘Play Value’ scoring to aspire to ‘Gold Standard’ with a minimum ‘Silver Standard’ to every play park. Establish sites for new, upgrade and transformed play parks; Consider and implement new and emerging play park equipment; Consider potential partnering opportunities and community involvement; Development of minimum standards; Establish a delivery framework; Identification of Priorities and Action Plan; Development of a capital works programme; Programme management and delivery; and Progress reporting to Council. A long-term approach to planning will be established to deliver a quality product and service to our communities. This approach will avoid resources being spread too thinly on each project, thus resulting in superficial play experiences and facilities that are in the wrong locations and under-utilised. Undertake community and key stakeholder consultation; Play Plan A dedicated specialist team will be appointed and established to develop and deliver a sustainable action plan to be known as the Play Plan.
