68 All play parks are maintained and developed to, where possible, a ‘Gold Standard’ and as a minimum to ‘Silver Standard’; Trees and vegetation are introduced and maintained where possible to play parks; Antisocial behaviour and vandalism are dealt with as a priority and promptly; Consideration of ‘Close Periods’ to facilitate the needs of our community with disabilities; The design of play parks will be reviewed to minimise impact and risk of antisocial behaviour; The development of play parks and replacement of play equipment shall be a continuous process and consider new emerging technologies and developments; That play parks are effectively marketed and communicated to both our community and visitors to the district; and To seek to develop stronger sense of community ‘ownership’ and reduction of vandalism and antisocial behaviour. The Council shall ensure that there is an effective management, maintenance and development programme for play parks. This shall be adequately resourced to ensure safe and sustainable play areas for children. The Council will continuously confirm that its existing on-site play equipment meets current standards and is suitable for safe public use through a formal inspection process in line with current requirements. The Council shall ensure: The selection of materials to be used in play equipment and the park will be made to ensure where possible maintenance and damage due to vandalism is minimised.
