Council adopts a holistic play park development model that provides quality, inclusive, accessible, active, sensory and explorative play. 9 The following is a summary of the 9 Principles identified within this strategy. Number Principle Contents 1 Play Park Development Model 2 Play Park Key Features and Activities Council will design play parks which provide key features for all age groups and abilities where possible and relevant to the type of play park being developed. Connectivity such as paths and car parking to play parks to be considered. 3 Play Park Hierarchy Council will adopt in extent and scope the three hierarchy categories of play parks as defined by the Fields in Trust (FIT, formerly National Playing Fields Association). 4 Play Value Score and Minimum Standard Council will assess and categorise all play parks in the district following an objective and criteria- based assessment to aspire to ‘Gold Standard’, and, as a minimum, that ‘Silver Standard’ is achieved and maintained. 5 Play Park Design Guidelines Council will establish and design all new play parks and the refurbishment of existing play parks to a minimum standard in line with current national standards.
