Recycling is the process of converting waste materials into newmaterials and objects that can save material and help lower greenhouse gas emissions. Each year 400 million tonnes of plastic is produced and 40% of that is single use plastics. People are increasingly worried about the impact of plastic on our natural environment, we are slowly becoming a plastic planet! Whilst recycling rates are improving there is still a big difference between what we are recycling and what we could be recycling. Checks indicate that these mixed black bags contain a high amount of recyclable waste. The Council urge residents to separate this material before entering the site.
