Our Residents’ Survey was undertaken during January and February 2018. The survey was conducted on a face-to-face basis, among a random sample of 679 residents, covering all District Electoral Areas (DEAs) and was based on a representative sample of residents. The survey shows that overall, residents are satisfied with the Council. This is underpinned with high levels of satisfaction across core service areas. However, satisfaction levels vary across District Electoral Areas. The survey highlighted a lack of awareness among residents regarding what services the Council is responsible for, and which services are delivered by other public bodies. For example, approximately half of residents believe the Council is responsible for street lighting and road maintenance. Accessing information on Council events, through social media and the website is generally considered relatively straightforward. Residents who engaged directly with the Council generally had a positive experience. A preference for the more traditional forms of communication, such as letters and leaflets, was cited. Residents in Fermanagh and Omagh tend to enjoy high levels of general health and are satisfied with the District as a place to live. This was groundbreaking research and the first time such research has ever been conducted locally.
