2.2 Fermanagh Lakelands 15 Fermanagh Lakelands & Omagh and The Sperrins The area is also supported through a number of hero visitor attractions such as, Marble Arch Caves and the Cuilcagh Lakelands Geopark - the first cross border Geopark in the world, dedicated to highlighting the unique natural, cultural and geological heritage of the area and housing some of the best showcaves in Europe and Devenish Island , with the early Christian Monastery and round tower thought to be one of Ireland's most iconic historical sites. Its island location can be accessed by ferry or water bus across Lough Erne. Other attractions in the area include; Castle Archdale Country Park &Marina, Belleek Pottery, the Cuilcagh Boardwalk, Enniskillen Castle, Share Discovery Village, Florence Court, bike trails, Lough Navar Forest Drive, Boa Island, The Buttermarket and Corralea Activity Centre. There are a number of well known lakes that attract niche visitors such as anglers and those seeking water based activities. There is potential to further develop these facilities for these high spending niche groups. Enniskillen Town Enniskillen boasts unique status as Ireland's only Island town. It is the main town that serves the Fermanagh Lakelands, sitting between Lower and Upper Lough Erne. It has a population of 13,823 and hosts a number of key attractions such as Enniskillen Castle and the EnniskillenWater Activity Zone. The town centre is a short walking distance from access points to the Erne system. The Ardhowen Theatre even has its own mooring just metres from the door, as does the shopping centre, armed with everything you’ll need for your waterway getaway. Marketing Marketing and promotion is currently delivered by Fermanagh Lakeland Tourism, a membership body made up of a wide range of tourist operators, on behalf of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council.
