The suggested hubs have been identified to support existing critical mass and manned experiences, building on current successes of the propositions and identified service gaps. The hubs should provide everything the visitor needs - access to transport, visitor information, visitor servicing provision and a supporting night time economy. This should be supported through well trained staff knowledgeable in the area and who act as ambassadors for the destination. By developing key hub sites opportunities are established to align with wider placemaking plans. This approach should be supported by the implementation of wayfinding and interpretation signage that connects and enables the visitor journey. There are 3 tiers of hubs suggested; ● Destination Towns ● Experience Hubs ● Secondary Hubs This is an established model for managing visitor flow and can be seen in the success of the Wild Atlantic Way, both in encouraging visitor movement and extension of stay and also private investment in new products, services and experiences.
