2022-2032 Vistitor Experience Development Plan

Key to successful economic return is the provision of suitable accommodation across the destination. Currently Omagh and The Sperrins has an underdeveloped accommodation provision compared to Fermanagh Lakelands. There are 423* certified accommodation providers across the district, of which over 70% are self catering accommodation. This is an abundance of self catering provision that needs support through dining, activity packages, clustering, etc. The provision of accommodation is important to retaining spend in the area, otherwise visitors will stay elsewhere and the associated spend is lost to the local economy. This should be supported by a thriving evening economy, quality and authentic food and beverage provision, and a range of activities as well as attractions that are within easy access from accommodation hubs. Fermanagh Lakelands The majority of accommodation is located in Enniskillen and around the Lakelands. There is limited accommodation around parts of the Geopark with some provision in nearby villages such as Belcoo and Belleek. The eastern side of the Lakelands benefits from a number of high end hotel offerings with complementary activities and water activities available on site. Omagh and The Sperrins Accommodation is largely centred around Omagh town, with some guest accommodation and caravan and camping sites located across the wider area. There are currently two hotels located in the Omagh and The Sperrins area which restricts capacity to serve the high value tourist looking for a range of accommodation types including 5* hotels.
