Timeline: Due for completion Autumn/Winter 2022 4.2 Recent & current investment projects to enhance tourism opportunities 43 Fermanagh Lakelands & Omagh and The Sperrins Sperrins Sculpture Trail Project - Summit of Mullaghcarn, Gortin Glen Forest Park Installation of a Giant of The Sperrins sculpture on summit of Mullaghcarn as part of Sperrins Sculpture Trail, a joint tourism initiative developed by Derry City and Strabane District Council (DCSDC) acting as the lead partner, along with Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, and Mid Ulster District Council. Total project cost: £514,914.60 (75% funded by DAERA) Timeline: Complete Summer 2022 Grange Park,Omagh Transformation into a 'destination playpark'. The design of the playpark embodies and reflects the environmental and cultural heritage of Omagh and is one of the largest and most inclusive play parks for children with a disability in Northern Ireland. Further plans to include improved visitor amenities and link to Riverside Walk. Total project cost: £1m+ Timeline: Complete Autumn 2022 The Ulster Canal Restoration Programme This flagship project will reinstate an historic canal transport corridor that closed in 1931. It transcends North South jurisdictional and county boundaries, underpins shared heritage on the island, and is the single greatest transformation opportunity the central border region holds. 13.5km of navigation will be delivered when phase 1, 2 & 3 are complete, with a considerable portion in Co.
