4.2 Recent & current investment projects to enhance tourism opportunities 44 Fermanagh Lakelands & Omagh and The Sperrins Fermanagh Lakeland Forum, Enniskillen A Full Business Case is being developed to transform the leisure and recreation building and surrounding area into a ‘destination’ to support the wider tourism offering. To include improved access to the town and waterways and an outdoor active park. Total project cost: TBC Timeline: TBC The Ardhowen, Enniskillen Work is progressing towards the updating and refurbishment of the Ardhowen Theatre building to meet contemporary standards. Its environs and unique lakeside aspect will also be enhanced. Total project cost: TBC Timeline: 2024/25 Necarne Estate & Castle Irvine, Irvinestown Stabilisation and conservation works to Castle Irvine with options for bringing elements of the Castle into use to include public access currently being explored (May 2022) by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council. Plans to create a multi-purpose tourism and leisure destination at Necarne Estate to include a holiday retreat with a range of accommodation; outdoor activities; enhanced walkways and cycle paths; an equestrian trail and events space currently underway. Total project cost: TBC Timeline: TBC Enniskillen to Sligo Greenway Work is underway on the design of a 72km route heading west from Enniskillen, under the shadow of Belmore Mountain, turning through Belcoo / Blacklion and on towards Sligo. Total project cost: £11m Timeline: TBC
