If so, why not donate your items to our Reuse Schemes. There are approximately 350 million litres of paint sold in UK every year, of which 41 million litres ends up in Council recycling centres; 64% of this is reusable paint. That’s equivalent to 40 Litres of paint wasted across the UK every minute. Collectively we could save 2.1kg of CO2 for every litre of reused paint Vs new paint. The Council is encouraging everyone to get involved and donate unwanted usable paint to our Paint Reuse Scheme. Any paint donated will be available free of charge to residents, schools, community groups, charities and sports clubs for use at home, in schools or on community projects. We have also a Furniture Reuse Scheme where unwanted items can be donated and given a new home. What are the benefits of the Paint and Furniture Reuse Schemes? • Reduces the amount of waste sent to landfill or incinerated which is a more sustainable alternative and is better for our environment • Reduces disposal costs which in turn saves money to our ratepayers • Saves money by reducing the amount spent on buying new or buying what you don’t need • Helps the local community, especially those who are in need Paint and furniture can be donated at Council Household Recycling Centres in Drummee (Enniskillen), Gortrush (Omagh), Carrickmore, Dromore, Fintona, Irvinestown, Kesh and Lisnaskea.
