20 in-FO in Fermanagh & Omagh | Winter 2022 Improvements across the District Investment across the District Every year the Council manages a programme of works across the district to improve local facilities, spaces and places for the wellbeing of residents and to provide improved experiences for those visiting the district. In the year 21/22, your rates helped to support a £10 million capital investment programme Some of the works recently completed or currently underway: The Sperrins Sculpture Trail Project is a rural tourism initiative located within the Sperrins Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This Sculpture Trail, designed by international artist Thomas Dambo, consists of three installations located on the summit of Mullaghcarn, the former Sperrins Heritage Centre and Davagh Forest. The project is part funded by the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs along with the three partner councils of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Mid Ulster District Council and Fermanagh and Omagh District Council. Status - Ongoing Enniskillen Public Art As part of the wider Enniskillen Public Realm project, a number of exciting new Public Art projects supported by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council have been installed throughout the town of Enniskillen. All artworks are very specific to Enniskillen and Fermanagh, created with a strong sense of place, local heritage and tradition. They include two commissions ; ‘A Sense of Place’ (designed by Eleanor Wheeler) and a Under the Arches’ (designed by Hatty & Young) along with an in-house project ‘Walking on Words’. Status - Ongoing Grange Park redevelopment Grange Park, Omagh has recently been redeveloped to include the transformation of the former play park into a new state-of-the-art ‘destination play park’ as part of the Council’s ambitious Play Park Strategy for the District. The new play park has been constructed on the theme of bridges and spires to reflect the landscape and heritage of Omagh and provides specialised inclusive play equipment as well as a sensory garden. It is situated against the backdrop of mature trees, a wildflower meadow and a tree trail which offer enhanced play value and ensures the natural environment is maintained. Status - Complete ✓ ✓ Many of the works undertaken are co-funded by partner organisations.
