Supporting the Community 9 www. fermanaghomagh .com Refuse collection support services for residents Did you know Fermanagh and Omagh District Council offers a number of refuse collection support services for residents who have specific disabilities, medical conditions or additional capacity requirements? The Assisted Bin Lift is a targeted support service for anyone with a disability or medical condition that prevents them from placing their bin at the kerbside for collection. Under the Assisted Bin Lift scheme, residents give permission for relevant Council staff (refuse collection crews) to enter external areas of their property, to collect and return the bin from an approved location. We recognise the important service that family, friends and neighbours often provide in this regard, and the Assisted Bin Lift seeks to prioritise those individuals who may not have access to that assistance. The Additional Bin Collection Service applies to black and green (non-recyclable, residual waste) 240 litre bins only. This can be provided for several reasons including to dispose of material due to a medical condition of a household member, the number of occupants in the house is 8 or more on a permanent basis and if the house has a secondary rated apartment attached with permanent occupants. The 360 Litre Blue Recycling Bin Collection Service is for households who require additional recycling capacity to dispose of excess recyclable materials which may be generated as a result of a medical condition of one of the household members or because there are 8 or more permanent residents in the household.
