Beyond the Call Project Omagh Volunteer Centre in partnership with the Strabane Community Partnership hosts the Beyond the Call Project funded by The National Lottery Community Fund. The Beyond the Call Project will deliver a menu of tailored services for older people over 60 years living in the Omagh, Strabane and Fermanagh areas. “Providing support if you need it and peace of mind if you don’t” “For many after the Covid Pandemic there was a sense of fear, a lack of confidence, and maybe even a reluctance to venture back out into the community. Many of the local clubs were not in operation due to lack of funding, lack of volunteers and resources and therefore no longer a familiar setting. The Beyond the Call Project through its services aims to alleviate loneliness and isolation, build confidence and friendships as well as signpost to other services available in the area. This service is FREE and CONFIDENTIAL We provide: z Phone line Befriending: offering companionship and peace of mind for you and your family. z Home befriending: supporting you to stay connected to your local community and to have the opportunity to enjoy the company of your volunteer befriender. z Buddy sessions : out and about with match volunteer buddy for a walk/ coffee/to attend a group or activity. z Signposting: connecting/referral and advocacy based on individual needs. How does it work? A referral can be made by someone involved in your care including healthcare providers, family or you can refer yourself. One of our 3 coordinators, Rita, Laurence or Mickey, (depending on your area) will be in touch and assess your needs and interests and recommend the best service to suit your needs and match you with a volunteer. They will also check in with you and your volunteer on a regular basis to ensure that you are both happy to continue with the arrangement. “I really appreciate the calls.
