2 Foreword As Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, I am delighted to welcome you to this year’s publication for Positive Ageing Month 2023. Positive Ageing Month takes place annually in October and is a month-long campaign of events and activities to promote positive ageing and celebrate the contribution our older residents make to our communities. The Council, in partnership with South West Age Partnership, the Western Health and Social Care Trust and the Public Health Agency, have once again put together another extensive and varied programme of events and activities, both in-person and online. Enniskillen Castle and Strule Arts Centre, Omagh will also be illuminated in purple on 01 October 2023 in recognition of International Day of Older Persons. Fermanagh and Omagh District Council is committed to ensuring that our older residents lead more independent, engaged and socially active lives. Positive Ageing Month is an initiative which enables us to provide opportunities for our older residents to fulfil this. I would encourage you to participate in as many events as possible, try new activities, have fun, socialise and meet new people. The Council recognises the importance of partnership working to deliver programmes and activities which benefit our residents. Consequently, I would like to thank our active partners, South West Age Partnership, the Western Health and Social Care Trust and the Public Health Agency for their ongoing commitment to the project.
