Supporting Local Communities Grants and Bursaries awarded The Council provides funding to voluntary clubs, societies, community, sporting organisations and bursaries to individuals. There are two rounds of grant calls each year in February and September. The Council has awarded £322,445 to individuals and groups right across the District in its first round of grants and bursaries in 2024. Two of the groups to receive funding were Gillygooley Youth and Community Development Association, who used the funding to facilitate a two-week summer scheme for 28 children in the local area, and The Courthouse, Kesh More than £2.2m invested in play parks Fermanagh and Omagh District Council’s Play Park Strategy is enhancing multiple play parks across the District for the enjoyment of tens of thousands of children now and in the future. This investment means that children across the District can enjoy high quality play facilities now and in the years to come. As well as raising the standards of the facilities and creating more opportunities for the children to have fun, we are also ensuring that our parks have accessible features, so children of all abilities can enjoy them. Since 2021, 25 play parks have been upgraded, including Queen’s Park in Lisbellaw, Rusheen in Garrison, Castle Park in Lisnaskea, St Davog’s in Belleek, Grange Park in Omagh, Ecclesville in Fintona and Fox Park, Drumnakilly ensuring facilities are vibrant, safe and engaging for our children. In 2025 further play park upgrade works are planned for Old Rossory, Enniskillen; Cappagh Villas, Gortin; Gortview / Lisanelly, Omagh and Sally’s Wood, Irvinestown. In a number of other areas the Council is investing in the transformation of play parks to new open community spaces, such as planting gardens and green space for all ages, including Beechgrove in Killyclogher and Gortrush, Omagh. 12 in-FO in Fermanagh & Omagh | Spring 2024 | Winter who used the funding to create a raised bed planting area and floral displays to plant, watch the produce grow and pick vegetables, flowers and fruits.
