Civic Pride 7 www. fermanaghomagh .com Currently almost 500 residents are registered as volunteers for the Council’s Litter Champion Scheme to undertake litter picks in their local area. It is open to anyone aged 16 years and over and the Council will lend equipment, provide advice and arrange to collect the bagged litter at an agreed location. If you are interested in finding out more about any of the initiatives, contact the Council’s Climate Team at climate@fermanaghomagh.com or telephone 0300 303 1777 . A further 1,038 volunteers are signed up to Live Here Love Here’s Adopt A Spot Scheme which promotes environmental and community involvement and enables people to adopt an area such as a town, village, park or street to look after. Thank you to all those who have adopted a spot and have completed litter picks in their towns and villages. Many residents also work in partnership with the Council to enhance their towns and villages visually with flowers and seating with great work being done in areas such as Dromore, Gortin, Lack and Belleek. In October 2024 at the Northern Ireland Amenity Council Best Kept Awards, Omagh was awarded Best Kept Large Town and Enniskillen was Runner Up in the Best Kept Medium Town. This is testament to the hard work, commitment and pride of the Council Staff and local community. Thank you to everyone for their efforts and taking pride in their local community. Litter Champions Fermanagh and Omagh District Council is committed to ensuring that our District is a great place to live, work, visit and invest in. By fostering civic pride in our District, we can work together to achieve this. Civic pride is about being an active citizen in your local community which can have many positive benefits for your local area. The Council appreciates the ongoing contribution made by residents to instil civic pride in their community and support the Council’s activities to ensure our District is clean and welcoming.
