11 Good Relations Programme 2021/2022 GOOD RELATIONS SMALL GRANTS PROGRAMME 2021-2022 Grant aid supports local groups and cross-cultural organisations with funding for programmes and activities to promote and address good relations issues. • 15 projects delivered • 2,775 people engaged in the Good Relations Small Grants projects • £13,200 awarded in grant aid Supported through the Good Relations Small Grants Programme ‘The Mosaic of Life’ tells the harrowing stories of the Syrian refugees settled in the Fermanagh and Omagh areas in their own words. The project gave the refugees a voice to tell their own stories and express how they feel about leaving their homelands and arriving in Northern Ireland. The participants have trust that their stories will be told to the local community dispelling any myths. “ Learned about tolerance and acceptance of other cultures. ” “ I really enjoyed making new friends learning about other cultures and trying different foods. ” “ I am very happy to make new friends especially from Poland, Hungary, Indonesia and Iran as well as local people from the Fermanagh and Omagh District Council area . ” The material from this project will be used in workshops with agencies and local community groups to start the integration process and dialogue around the refugee’s journey.
