We are keen to improve accessibility at the Marble Arch Caves Global Geopark. Recently, several Taster Tours took place for People with Autism; People with Dementia; and People with a Learning Disability. Following the success of these sessions, group tours one morning per month will be reserved for people with disabilities. Dates will be released in the New Year. More information can be found online at: www.marblearchcavesgeopark.com It is important that all residents can enjoy our facilities and services. We aim to continually improve and support all residents, including those with additional needs. Advisory Groups We have three Advisory Groups: Disability Advisory Group; Fermanagh Access Advisory Group; and Omagh Access Advisory Group. Their members provide staff with support, guidance and direction on matters relating to access and disability. You can: Become a Member of the Fermanagh or Omagh Access Advisory Groups; Raise an issue for discussion by the Groups; Request to attend a meeting of the Groups. Engagement Workshops The Disability Advisory Group is looking for your thoughts. What Council services have been performing well? Are there any improvements to service delivery that can be made for people with disabilities? More information can be found online at: www.fermanaghomagh.com/your-council/ policies/equality/disability-advisory-group/ Enjoyment of services for all We are aware that some people can find it difficult to approach staff or may just need a little more time. JAMCard allows people with a learning difficulty, autism or Asperger’s tell others they need ‘Just A Minute’ discreetly and easily. Those with a communication barrier are often reluctant or unable to tell others about their condition. JAMCard allows this to happen in a simple, effective, non-verbal manner. The Council is rolling out staff training to ensure all Council venues are aware of the needs of people carrying JAMCards. ‘Just a Minute’ (JAM) Card 5 www. fermanaghomagh .com Inclusion 4 in-FO in Fermanagh & Omagh | Winter 2018 i i Accessibility at the Caves i For more information on Disability, Equality or Accessibility, contact Matthew Nevin or Finbar Maguire Tel: 0300 303 1777; Textphone: 028 8225 6216; Email: disability@fermanaghomagh.com We are committed to improving services for people with autism and dementia, as well as continuing our work towards becoming Autism and Dementia Friendly.
